Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

Solar DIY Project is a content website available at https://solardiyproject.com, operated as an independent publication. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit, who else receives it, and what you can do about it.

The short version: we do not ask you for personal information, we have no accounts and no on-page forms, and the calculators run entirely in your browser. The data that does get collected comes from our hosting provider's logs and from the third-party advertising network described below.

Information collected directly

This is a static website. It has no user accounts, no login, no newsletter signup, and no on-page contact form. We do not ask you to submit personal information and we have no database of visitors.

Our hosting provider records standard server logs for every request, which typically include your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system information, the pages you requested, the referring page, and a timestamp. These logs exist for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing technical faults.

Calculator inputs stay in your browser

The sizing and voltage-drop calculators on this site compute entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The values you enter are not transmitted to us, not written to a server, and not logged. Some tools may retain values in your browser's local storage so your figures survive a page refresh; that data never leaves your device and clearing your browser storage removes it.

Advertising and third-party cookies

This site is supported by display advertising served by third-party networks, including Google. We do not control which adverts appear and we do not receive personal information about you from the advertising network.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve advertisements based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve advertisements to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visitingGoogle Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of third-party vendor cookie use for personalised advertising ataboutads.infoorthe NAI opt-out page.
  • Third-party advertising vendors may place and read cookies on your browser or use web beacons to collect information as a result of serving advertisements on this site.

Google's handling of data collected from sites that use its services is described inGoogle's privacy and terms for partner sites. Our own use of cookies is described further on the cookie policy page.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland

Where consent is required for non-essential cookies, our advertising partner presents a consent interface before personalised advertising cookies are set, and your choice is recorded and respected. You may change or withdraw that choice at any time through the same interface or by clearing cookies for this site.

You have the right to request access to personal data held about you, to request correction or deletion, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. Because we hold no account records, requests about advertising data generally need to be directed to the advertising vendor, but we will help you identify the right recipient if you contact us.

If you are a California resident

We do not sell personal information in exchange for money. Some sharing of identifiers with advertising partners for personalised advertising may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" under the CCPA as amended. You may opt out of personalised advertising using the mechanisms listed above, and you may exercise your rights to know, delete, or correct by contacting us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Email contact

If you email us, we use what you send solely to respond to your request. Please do not send passwords, payment details, government identifiers, or other sensitive information — we do not need them and we do not want to hold them.

Children

This site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us so the message can be reviewed and deleted.

Data retention

Server logs are retained for a limited period for security and diagnostic purposes according to our hosting provider's standard practice. Email correspondence is retained only as long as needed to handle the matter it concerns. Advertising cookies are retained according to the vendor's own policy, not ours.

External links

We link to standards bodies, manufacturer datasheets, and public datasets so readers can verify our figures. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we have no control over their practices.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will be revised. If we ever begin collecting information in a way this policy does not describe — for example by adding analytics or an on-page form — that change will be reflected here before it takes effect.

Privacy questions can be sent through the contact page. Please include enough detail for us to identify what you are asking about.
